I said I was going to blog while at camp. I should have known better. Not only is the service spotty, but we’re pretty much “on go” 24/7 the entire week. As a result, it’s taken me a whole week to recover.

We also brought home the flu, which has been a blast. Unfortunately, Preston had the worst case. He even missed his first (and only) out of town baseball tournament of the season. That was pretty tragic at the time. I think he would tell you it was worth it though. Pictured above is Preston and Tommy, his special friend. Preston got to be his counselor for a whole day. It went pretty well. He ultimately decided he wasn’t quite ready to be solely responsible for a human being. He stuck it out and did a wonderful job. I told him, there’s a reason you have to be fifteen to apply for the position. It’s a big job.
I didn’t die of a heat stroke like I thought I would. I mean, it was hot, but not as aggressive as it was here in Greenville. The mountain provides a TINY bit of respite. Tiny. I have slept more this week than I have my entire adult life. It’s been glorious.
I’ve been working hard on my other manuscripts this week since I’ve not had Jackson (we didn’t want to expose him to our germs). The book I’m writing about divorce is going to be my favorite – I’m so excited! For several years, it’s been sitting in my documents folder just staring at me, one sentence written. I’m so guilty of saying, “I just don’t know how to get started with it. The words won’t come to me.” Duh. If I never sit down and attempt to write anything, the words will never come. I’ve committed to sitting with it for at least an hour a day. So far, the words are coming! I’ve written several pages. We have another one about anxiety that we’re offering my current publisher. I have to offer them first refusal rights to my next manuscript. I’ll offer them the anxiety one – I think I’m going to look for an agent for my divorce story. Of course, these are my plans and we all know how my plans typically work out.
We leave Sunday for a week at the beach. Preston is taking a friend and is beside himself. That’s all I really care about. I think it’s going to be way too hot for me to actually enjoy myself. We shall see.
A few more camp pics before I go…
