After taking the ghost tour of the harbor with Sandlapper Water Tours, we were left with no choice but to brave brunch at Poogan’s Porch!

I feel like I’m one of the last people on earth to eat here. Every time we’ve tried to go, the wait has been far too long. Pro Tip: make a reservation online.

Everything was delicious. I’ve only ordered chicken & waffles twice in my life. This one blew the first out of the water! The price point also impressed me. I expected it to be much more expensive. Nanny and I both ate for less than $40.

Say hello to Zoe, pictured on the right. She often haunts the upstairs bathroom. Unfortunately, we didn’t meet her!
Zoe and her sister, Elizabeth, lived at the residence in the early 1900s. Zoe was a school teacher. She and her sister kept to themselves. When Elizabeth passed away, it wasn’t long before Zoe’s mental health began to decline. Often, she was seen roaming the street in front of their house, calling for Elizabeth. Eventually, she was hospitalized.

After Zoe’s death, guests who stayed at the hotel across the street regularly called the police to report a woman “stuck” upstairs, looking out the window. Now, the owners of the beloved restaurant keep the shutters closed!
Have you been to Poogan’s? I’d love to hear about your experience!
