Earl Scruggs Fest ’24 Day Three

We stayed till the very end last night. Walking out of Old Crow Medicine Show early was not gonna happen. As a result, we didn’t pull out of the parking lot until after eleven. We didn’t miss our exit this time (a ridiculous story for another day). Missing the exit might have worked in our favor this time because there was an accident. Our car didn’t move for over an hour. As a result of our car not moving for over an hour, I didn’t get in bed until after 2 am. All of that to say, I am SLEEPY this morning. It’s actually after one, but whatever…

I am THRILLED to be here on the final day! This is the first year we’ve attended all three days of the festival. Today, we’re scheduled to see Peter Rowan & Sam Grisman Project, Miko Marks, Mighty Poplar, and Tanya Tucker.

Currently there’s a weather delay (hopefully it’s temporary).

At least there are other things to do while you wait – shops, restaurants, etc. (another reason I love this festival).

We stopped in Roger’s again to sample their “Signature BLT.” Fun Fact: I have only had ONE BLT in my entire life. Today was the first time I’ve ordered one in a restaurant. I was not disappointed. The bread was perfectly toasted and fresh.

While we wait, I’m going to tell you about a couple of new additions I noticed on site this year.

Parents have loved this feature! I know I would have appreciated it in the days before Preston was too cool to travel with us. We’ve watched kids playing in the over-sized sandbox throughout the weekend. This spot will remain on the grounds when the festival leaves. You’ll also find a designated Kid Zone on the grass of the General Admission section by the main stage. ESMF truly is family-friendly.

Spirits of Bluegrass came with ESMF and will leave when it’s over. Well, except for the green turf. During the festival, guests can purchase drinks and play Cornhole. The beautiful faux grass will be around for other events at the Tryon Equestrian Center.

The weather let up in time for us to hear Miko Marks. She was exceptional.

We didn’t realize we were hungry until a group of people sat behind us with pizza from Campagna Italian. The smell was more than we could handle. It tasted even better than it looks!

We wrapped up the weekend with Tanya Tucker!

Earl Scruggs Music Festival will forever be one of our favorite weekends of the year!

Stay tuned for more over at Greenville360. We’ll also be publishing backstories on a few of our favorite bands in the newsletter!
