Well, today didn’t start out well. We’ve concluded that middle age women aren’t meant for this kind of heat. One foot out of the car and I’m soaking wet. No one was around to offer us a ride today AND we were carrying chairs. I had not put one bite of food in my mouth and it was 12:45.
A recipe for disaster.

I am really looking forward to today’s line-up ~ especially this evening!
1:15 pm
We got the food right this time…

Roger’s Diner never lets us down. When you come in the gate, hang a right. Unless you’re just in the mood for Italian, don’t bother going anywhere else. It’s fast, cheap, and the sweet tea is perfect.
3:00 pm
Earl Scruggs Fest is so much more than music. We just finished watching The Scruggs Sessions: Flat & Scruggs At Carnegie Hall. In 1962, Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs & the Foggy Mountain Boys brought bluegrass to Carnegie Hall for the first time. Today, Earls of Leicester invited bands from ESMF to join them on stage to recreate the set from that historic night.

6:00 pm
Lindsay Lou is taking the stage. I’ve not heard of her before. We’ve been getting messages on social media telling us not to miss her set.

She was great! Eccentric. She dressed like a strawberry because she said it made her happy. She also said she was so hot she “might be melted JAM before the night is over.”
7:00 pm
The temperature is finally becoming bearable. By bearable, I mean, I no longer feel like I’m going to pass away. Whyyyyy is it so hot? September is here. It’s a good thing Nanny isn’t with us this year. She would NOT have been able to make it. Don’t feel sorry for her, she’s at the beach through next week! That also means she’s not editing my work. You will have to forgive me for whatever grammatical or sentence structure-y mistake(s) I make this weekend. She will scold me later, I promise!
This is the first time I’ve written while “on the job.” Tell me what you think. I like it because it means I have less writing to do when I get home. On the other hand, I feel like my thoughts and words are all over the place.
We’ve started a new Concert Series over on the Greenville blog. It will be a more “professional” account of what we experience at each venue. Don’t forget to follow along over there too!
8:20 pm
Some of the artist interviews take place in our media lounge. It’s fun to sit in and listen to them.

8:30 pm

Marty Stuart was a blast from the past!
I do not even have words for Old Crow Medicine Show! They deserve their own post. Stay tuned for that!

Day Two in the books! ✌️
One more day…
