Back in the Land of the Living (Sort Of)

Wow. What other word do I use to describe what we’ve just experienced – still experiencing. I’m caught somewhere between excited because we have power again (it came back on last night) and guilt/sadness because we have power again. So many of my friends and loved ones are still sitting in the dark. I can only be so happy. In a perfect world, we would have the space to accommodate everyone. In reality, we do not have room.

I think I’ll be thankful. Thankful that everyone we know is safe and healthy. Thankful that we have a roof over our heads and the ability to purchase food and water. Seeing the devastation in North Carolina is heartbreaking. Lake Lure, Flat Rock/Hendersonville, and Chimney Rock are all three near and dear to our hearts. We continue to pray for those communities. Don’t even get me started on Bonclarken. I cannot even bear to look at the pictures.

How are all of you? I would love to hear feedback.

Obviously, we did not make it to Franklin. You can bet your life we tried to think of a way. The Pilgrimage Festival was not canceled, which made it even harder. We did so much research on the town of Franklin. The history is unbelievably fascinating. Don’t worry, though, we’ll get there once everything settles around here. In the meantime, I’m going to revel in the fact that Steven Curtis Chapman was watching my Instagram stories. *Sigh*

On a more positive note, I finally read the book I checked out at the library three weeks ago. So good. I’m starting one today that mom read, in like two days. She says it’s fantastic. We shall see. Be sure and sign up for the newsletter because I’ll be sharing my review SOON!

Well, I’m off to try and find a hot breakfast…
