Apparently, this blog has turned into more of a diary. Not my intention. It started with travel, but I have enjoyed dumping my thoughts at the end of each day. Gets them out of my head. Sorta reminds me of my very first blog – jpbeamer.blogspot.com. Who remembers? I couldn’t bring myself to delete it. Beginning in 2007, that cyber spot was the keeper of my deepest, most painful emotions. When we were adopting JP, I would hop on and type until my fingers turned blue. The good, the bad, and the (very) ugly.
We’ll see how long this lasts. (Email or text and let me know if you enjoy this style of writing – it helps to know.)

This is why I’m blue. Hurricane Helene left its mark on the Upstate (to say the least) and devastated the majority of Western North Carolina. It’s hard to sit here in my air conditioned home, typing on my laptop, knowing there are people stranded less than an hour from my driveway. I’ve cried on and off for three days. I’m so thankful for the places around town who are gathering supplies. We’re doing our (small) part, but it’s such a helpless feeling.

Stores do not have milk and eggs. We were thankful for Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery today. They didn’t have eggs, but we found milk! *Sidenote: they did have duck eggs. Anyone had those before?

If you’re in the area, stop by and support these guys. They’re working really hard to keep things running.
Tomorrow is scheduled to be a full day of errands. Mom and I leave Friday morning for a weekend with our friends in Awesome Alpharetta!
Power continues to be restored. I hope all of you are staying healthy and safe!
