Hi, hello. I’m checking in. How’s everyone doing? Things are still crazy around here. That shouldn’t be news to anyone.
Have a seat, guys, this is a long one…
Preston
Baseball season is in full swing, pun intended. What does this mean? For starters, Preston practices EVERY day and has games twice a week. This is his eighth grade year and he’s loving every minute of it. A little too much, to be honest. He’s gone from academic excellence to doing just-enough-to-get-by. He’s still been on the Honor Roll, but I can’t figure out for the life of me HOW. Actually, he’s lovable. That’s how. The teachers and administrators love him. I’m rolling my eyes so hard right now. I swear he could talk himself out of a hostage situation.
Anyway. If I spend too much time on this topic, I’ll start having heart palpitations. He makes me a nervous wreck.
How in the world did Jack and Faye survive me?

JP
JP’s Art “business” is thriving. I don’t know why I put the word business in quotes. What he has is absolutely a business. So much so, I think we’re going to have to apply for a business license. He is the happiest I’ve ever seen him. Most of his work is done in the afternoon/evening hours. We visit the coffee shop about once a week to switch out prints and take pics, etc.
Oh, that’s another thing. I’m learning to drink coffee. We’ll get to that in a minute…
Our dining room is a total mess. This is the part where I pretend that the dining room only became a mess when JP started painting in there. Humor me. Bless his heart. Paint gets EVERYWHERE. The autistic part of him cannot deal. We talked him out of showering in between every canvas, but he does stand at the kitchen sink and wash his hands, in scalding hot water, for six straight hours.
I don’t think we’ve seen a water bill yet. Jack will likely ask us to move out.

Work Stuff
We got to see the Beyond Van Gogh/Beyond Monet exhibit at the Greenville Convention Center. If you’ve not been, and appreciate art, you should go. The experience is truly beautiful. Mom and I saw it in Charleston a couple of years ago. This time was a TAD bit different for me because, well, vertigo. I was A-okay until the walls and floor started moving in opposite directions. From that point on, I was in the hallway, between the exhibit and the gift shop, staring at the non-moving walls. Don’t worry, I wasn’t alone. The sweet associate kept checking on me. “We’re trained to notice people like you,” he said.
JP loved it, which made the whole night worthwhile.

My ABSOLUTE favorite part of last week was Friday. My cousin’s daughter, Lindi, job-shadowed me. She wants to be a journalist. Things could not have worked out better. I had two events to cover, which never happens in the same day.
We spent the morning at the Meyer Center and joined in their classroom celebrations.
South Carolina declared March 1 Meyer Center Day!

I left the building with the CEO’s business card because one morning just wasn’t enough. I’m applying to sub.
Next up, we stopped in Soby’s New South Cuisine to learn how to make their famous White Chocolate Banana Cream Pie. The only dessert that doesn’t rotate off their menu.
Little Miss Baker Lindi was in her own personal heaven.

SO fun! Needless to say, she went home with plenty to write about!
Yours Truly

Remember when I said I was learning to drink “coffee?” And I’m putting coffee in quotes because some might argue that what I’m drinking doesn’t count as coffee. “Some” being Faye.
Pictured above is my Mocha Iced Coffee. Or maybe it’s a Mocha Iced Latte. I’m still not sure what the difference is. I just ask for a “mocha with almond milk” and then drink whatever they hand me. So far, I’ve enjoyed them! A lot. Every day I’m like, “wonder if I have time to run by and grab a coffee.” I’m THAT girl now. Who woulda thunk.
I leave for Camp Joy Florida next Friday. I’ll be sharing all kinds of content from the road. I’m beyond excited!
How’s your week going?!?
