You guys may get tired of me bragging sharing JP’s art, but I’m unapologetic.
Laurie and I were talking this morning – it’s impossible to describe how it makes me feel to watch him succeed in his creative space.

I always thought I’d have to find a business who hires people with disabilities and then figure out a way to make him comfortable enough to be able to work around people.
It has caused me SO much anxiety over the years.

Then, one day he sat down and painted a canvas. At first, I was like, “oh, JP, that is so pretty!” I had no idea how much he loved it. Or that it was something he would one day sell. I thought he was just messing around.
Who knew it would turn into an actual thing! You’ve heard me say it a thousand times, but I’m so proud of him. He’s happier than I’ve EVER seen him.
Fills my cup.
About two months ago, I filled out an application for him to be one of the featured artists at the Metropolitan Arts Council’s Arts After Dark during Greenville’s Downtown Alive. Honestly, I didn’t think he’d be accepted since he’s so inexperienced.
I submitted five samples of his work. Two weeks ago, we learned that he’d been chosen!
Here’s what I sent them…

We could not be more excited! You’ll be the first to know when we have the date. It’ll be sometime this summer! I’m sure he’ll sit behind me under the tent and not say a word. He’ll be so uncomfortable and overwhelmed, but it’ll be good for him to have the experience.
So far, he’s finished four canvases.

And his business cards arrived last week!

Thank you for allowing me to gush over my little Picasso!
