JP and I had a really great 4th this year. It was just the two of us, which rarely (if ever) happens. We drove to Campbell’s Covered Bridge to look around, but only after we stopped at Dollar General to pick up an American Flag – JP loves flags!
Two things:
- Don’t let the pictures fool you. It was HOT AS… well, you know. While there is plenty of shade, when it’s humid and 110 degrees, it doesn’t make a difference. As much as we enjoy this area of Greenville, I’m gonna have to reserve the next trip for the fall.
- JP + the American Flag = Joy. This country means a great deal to me. I was brought up to respect the flag and the freedom is represents. Having said that, I’m not sure I fully grasped the true meaning until we brought JP home from Guatemala. Don’t get me wrong, Guatemala is a BEAUTIFUL country and if you have an opportunity to visit, you should. But spending a couple of months there definitely made me appreciate America on a deeper level. So, yeah, seeing my son with his American Flag (and a great big smile) brings a tear to my eye. The opportunities he will have living here are endless and I am beyond grateful.
We decided to drive into Landrum to eat at the Hare & Hound restaurant.
The food is yummy and the atmosphere is fun. If you’ve not been, you should definitely give it a try! JP’s favorite part is the popcorn they bring to the table.
Landrum is a super cute town. Too bad we were chased off by major thunderstorms!
We wrapped up the holiday in downtown Greenville (because, at the end of the day, it’s all about Greenville) at the celebration on Main.
I hope all of you had a great holiday!
