Staycation|#yeahTHATgreenville

IMG_3592We partnered with Homewood Suites Greenville for a staycation last weekend. It couldn’t have come at a better time. We’ve been on the road so much lately, it felt so good to “get away” without really getting away.

FRIDAY

IMG_3591This place is quite the hidden gem.

IMG_3601When we got there, we were greeted with friendly smiles and complimentary bottles of water at the front desk. The water was a welcomed gift. Especially for JP – I’m pretty sure he talked the whole way here. Insert eye-roll emojis.

Our room was so nice! We had a kitchen, table with two chairs, living room (with a sofa and chair), a bedroom with one full bath (separate vanity area) and a comfy king bed. There was a television in both rooms, too, which was a plus in JP’s book.

We made dinner plans with some friends later in the evening, so we explored the grounds a little while waiting for them to arrive.

IMG_3586I don’t know that I’ve ever seen so much room and comfortable seating in the entrance of a hotel. It almost made me not want to go to my room! And that’s a BIG deal, ’cause you guys know I LOVE hotel rooms.IMG_3579The back patio was impressive. How nice is this outdoor grill for the guests?!

IMG_3584If I wasn’t already longing for summer, I am now. Wonder if they’ll invite us back to play in the pool?! I can already smell the hamburgers and Coppertone.

IMG_3583Kerri and Andrew met us for dinner. We drove to Grill Marks downtown on Main. The wait was pretty long (hello outside dining in Greenville on a Friday night) but we didn’t mind. We took the kids across the street to the Marriott Courtyard. They played while we sat on the couch and talked. One of the many things I love about this town.

IMG_3614The Bacon and Cheese Chips appetizer was SO good. I meant to take pictures of our burgers, but I was so hungry by the time we ate, there just wasn’t time. Note to self: Eat something between breakfast and dinner!

IMG_3618After dinner, we strolled up and down Main for a bit. The weather was absolute perfection.

IMG_3617Poor Mr. McBee – He was sitting here minding his own business before JP came along and put him in a choke hold.

Saturday

Saturday morning was pretty eventful. We had to evacuate the hotel for a brief time due to a small fire. I’m not sure what happened, but the staff got everyone out in a timely and safe manner. There’s no doubt, safety of the guests is top priority at Homewood Suites.

For those of you that don’t know, my son, JP, has issues with anxiety. Evacuating a building during a fire did not go well with him. I was proud of the way he handled himself, but it took some coaxing to get him to go back Saturday evening. We decided to keep things low-key – pizza and lots of laughing on the patio was just what he needed.

IMG_3713Clearly our night ended on a high!

We had a lovely weekend. Stay tuned Friday for more photos from our stay.

I hope you guys are having a great week so far. I apologize for the late post. It’s taken me until today to get myself together from the weekend. And I’m not even really ‘together.’
