You know one of our favorite things to do is hop in the car with no time frame and absolutely no clue where we’re going. This is exactly what we did last weekend (my birthday was Saturday and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my time).
Warning: Picture overload…
We started out at the cutest little (well, actually it wasn’t so little) apple orchard near Chimney Rock, NC. ( I’ll share more on that later). Once we left, we decided to just follow the road.
Maybe not yellow-brick, but where it led was nothing short of magical.
Have you been to The Flowering Bridge?
Completed in 1925, it served as part of the highway until 2011 when a new bridge was built. The bridge was turned over to the town of Lake Lure “to be developed by local people to further enhance the natural beauty of the Hickory Nut Gorge for generations to come.”
Why, yes, I think we will.
Preston loved this little door. It opened and you could walk through. Notice, above the door reads, “Where the Wild Things Are.” No wonder he felt an instant connection!
(Here’s one for you, Christi and Big Guy!)
