If you’ve stayed in Garden City, you’ve probably eaten at Sam’s Corner. Mom and I used to go there to eat the Ocean Burger. Sounds unique and fancy, huh? It’s nothing more than hamburger meat and cheese inside a pita. They add a Ranch(ish) type sauce to the already delicious flavor. We took the girls one night last week. THEY WERE OUT OF PITA! (I put that in all caps because I’m still screaming).

Once I was done giving the cook a hard time for running out of my beloved (pita) bread, he suggested I order the Patty Melt. “A customer told us just yesterday that it was the best they’d ever had.” He didn’t have to twist my arm. He was right. IMO, the buttery toast made the difference. Now I’ll have a hard time knowing which to order when we go back.
The city staple isn’t what you’d call fine dining, but it is something to write home about!
Oh my, how I wish we were still there. I already miss the smell of the salt air and the slowness that comes with each day.
Back to reality…
Jackson started 4K last week, which means the house is eerily quiet now in the mornings. Something we have to get used to. Our routine is going to look a lot like, work/writing in the mornings and facilitating activities for JP in the afternoons, before grabbing Preston from school. Oddly enough, it’s our weekends for the next couple of months that are busy.
THIS Saturday, Tyler and I will be at the Author & Artisan Market at As The Page Turns in Travelers Rest. We’ll be there from 11-4 if you wanna stop by, say hello, and buy a book (or four)!
