Journal Entry #1

I’ve decided that random posts that have everything to do with nothing are going to be titled, “Journal Entry” followed by the number. Years from now, maybe I’ll enjoy re-reading these.

Today was good. We sat in the South Carolina Room at the Greenville County Library’s main campus for hours. We have several stories we’re working on for October – the research is so fascinating. For those of you who are new here, when I say “we,” I am referring to myself, my sister (Laurie), and mom (Faye). They both work with me.

If you’ve not visited the SC Room, it is really helpful.

A room full of everything ever written about our state. (I don’t know if that’s 100% true, but it feels like it). I also subscribed to a seven day free trial with newspapers.com. I had no idea that was even a thing. I can look up ANYTHING that’s ever been published in a newspaper or magazine!

A researcher’s dream.

I’m starting “Verity” by Colleen Hoover. She’s new to me. I loved the “It Ends With Us” movie, I’m assuming her books are even better. Each of us chose an October-ish title to read so we can write up a book review for the newsletter at the end of the month. I need to be more like mom. She picks up books and will literally read anything. My goal is to broaden my horizons this season and beyond.

Today is my dad’s birthday! He played golf all day and we celebrated with friends tonight. He was a happy camper!

Happy (almost) Friday!
