Food Diaries: Entry 9, Charleston Crab House

IMG_2283When I travel, I like to eat in restaurants that are unique to the place I am visiting.  In other words, I stay away from chains, if at all possible.  (Although we did go to Sticky Fingers when we were in Charleston last Saturday b/c I was starving and it was one of the first places we passed – I am NOT a Sticky Fingers fan, but the Charleston location is GREAT)

Sunday, on the way out of town, we stopped at Charleston Crab House for seafood. I really wanted Shrimp & Grits!

IMG_2256For a while now, I’ve been on a quest to find the BEST Shrimp & Grits and I gotta tell ya,  Charleston Crab House is in the lead.  Being on the water really makes a difference in taste.

IMG_2285This was the first time I’d had them with BBQ sauce.  I don’t know how to describe the flavor, but OH. MY. YUM.  You’ll just have to trust me. They were insanely delicious.

IMG_2272The soup and Shrimp & Grits were actually appetizers, so the portions were much smaller.  Or, at least, they were supposed to be!  We split the pimento cheese crab burger as our main course.  (Two thumbs up!)

Charleston Crab House is definitely on my list of places I want to return to!
