You can run, but you can’t hide. Christmas is comin’ and I’m working hard to get in the spirit this year. Fortunately for us, Greenville has a calendar full of activities for families. I thought I would list a handful of our favorites for those of you who are looking for a little holiday adventure.
Ice On Main – This one’s probably a given, but it’s a BIG hit with our boys. There’s something about ice skating that screams Christmas. Don’t misunderstand me, I do not ice skate anymore, but it sure is fun to watch Preston and JP take to the ice! Be sure to check their website for special (weekly) deals. Wednesdays are a VERY special day – we wrote all about it HERE!
Downtown Carriage Rides – Would you believe we’ve never done this?! Every Thursday-Sunday, hop in for a thirty minute (give or take a few minutes) tour of downtown Greenville. No need to drive to the low country to get that Norman Rockwell feel! We can’t wait to give it a try. After you’re done, swing by The Chocolate Moose for a sweet treat!
Festival of Trees – Please tell me you’ve walked through the Festival of Trees?! This is a great thing for us, personally, because we’re not putting up a tree this year. (Don’t judge too harshly, I’ll write up a full post soon to explain our reasons). The trees are decorated and put in place by local schools and businesses. Countless hours of planning and preparation go into this event and we love to show our support. We also love to drink Starbucks hot chocolate (located inside the Hyatt Regency) while strolling through the magical maze of trees. St. Francis Festival of Trees is located at the following spots: Hyatt Regency Greenville, Courtyard by Marriott Greenville Downtown, Hampton Inn & Suites Greenville Downtown at RiverPlace, and Embassy Suites by Hilton Greenville Downtown RiverPlace.
Stroll Down Main Street – This isn’t really an organized activity, but it’s one of our favorite things to do. Especially JP! There are so many lights and the tree in front of M.Judson is a must-see. Drop in River Street Sweets – its cozy and Christmas-y and you can get a free Praline sample! This is also Charlie and Sampson’s favorite store – they give the dog treats two paws up.
These are just a few of our favorite (cheap) things to do around town. Feel free to share your favorite family traditions.
HAPPY WEEKEND!
