IMG_8385We are finally re-establishing somewhat of a routine since mom’s been sick. Unfortunately, we’ve had to slow down in the road/day trip department. However, this week, I’m happy to report that things are slowly returning to normal.

Friday, we hopped in the car and headed to Devil’s Fork State Park at lake Jocassee.

IMG_8357I’m amazed at how clear the water is. If I didn’t know better, I would think I was swimming in Caribbean water!

IMG_8364It was a little cloudy on this day, but the mountain backdrop at Devil’s Fork is spectacular.

IMG_8380When the water is down, there is more of a beach area. It’s very rocky, so keep that in mind when packing for the day. My advice would be to spend your time in the water. I really did feel like I was someplace other than home. (And who doesn’t want to be some place other than home at times?) We took our own floats, but they are available to rent.

Devil’s Fork has ample spots to set up your picnic lunch. Tables are scattered underneath tall trees and there’s plenty of green grass for blankets. We packed our cooler full of snacks and remained (you guessed it) by the water.

The Eclectic Sun store is there to supply your every need (including clean bathrooms). We remembered everything but our fishing nets. For only $8, we got two of them! Click HERE to visit the store’s website. The next time we go, I want to rent a kayak and visit one of the many hidden waterfalls!

We enjoyed our day and look forward to going back. Devil’s Fork is probably one of the first places we will pitch our tent this fall. The views are amazing! Click HERE to purchase your SC State Parks Pass.

In other news, the kids have officially gone back to school. Preston is starting the second grade and tried really hard this morning to pretend he wasn’t excited. I know better. JP’s homeschool group doesn’t begin until September 6. Apparently, he thought he was going to lay around for the next few weeks and watch television and play his games. Poor guy. He’s currently sitting on the couch across from me reviewing fifth grade math and english. If looks could kill… (insert all the laughing emojis, because I’m dying!)

Happy Monday!
