What a great concept! We just discovered the best block party on the planet. Three exemplary restaurants – one kitchen – one bar.
Hutson Alley is home to The Victor Social Club, Vincent Chiccos and Michaels on the Alley.
We enjoyed the walk to dinner almost as much as the food (that’s saying a lot). Tiny, decorative lights hang over vine covered walls in the alley.
Most people begin at the Social Club with drinks and appetizers before moving on to one of the restaurants. It’s like a progressive supper without leaving the building. This is a huge plus if the weather decides not to cooperate with your plans.
We chose to spend our entire time in The Victor Social Club. The atmosphere was calming and we sampled all three menus from one table.
As a writer, it’s never a good thing when you run out of words. I could sit here all afternoon and try to come up with adequate adjectives to describe the food, but a picture is worth a thousand words.
You need to understand that I am NOT exaggerating when I say, this Lobster Mac & Cheese might be the best thing I’ve eaten in a very long time. If you like lobster and you like mac & cheese (who doesn’t), you have GOT to make your way to downtown Charleston and order this dish. I love it almost as much as the ocean! GASP!
The majority of these are off the appetizer side of the menu. Can you imagine the actual dinner menu? Okay, I’ve got to wrap this up so I can make lunch – I’m dying over here.
Finally, what is a southern celebration without a mule? Not the farm animal, but the cocktail.
The Victor Social Club was right up my alley!
