Camp Joy|Flat Rock, North Carolina

We’ve been hanging out at Camp Joy in Flat Rock, NC this past week. I know, I know! I can’t seem to stay away.

There’s a reason for that.

These people love EVERYBODY. Literally. The campers and the staff. It is so refreshing. The world would be a MUCH better place if we loved even HALF as much as they do.

Camp Joy North Carolina is held at the Bonclarken Conference Center. Bonclarken stands for Good-Clear-Vision (Bon-clar-ken). What an appropriate name. As soon as I drive through the gates, my vision clears. The weight of life slides off my shoulders somewhere around the Flat Rock exit and I feel lighter.

Climbing the rock wall and riding down the zip line were part of this week’s activities. So much love and friendship between the counselors and campers! I have a hard time coming up with adequate words to describe the counselors. There will be a special place in heaven for these souls.

Would it even be camp without an eighteen person canoe?!

Preston was my helper this week. Well, he was a very big help to me, but also took on jobs, participated in the activities and made friends of his own! He is definitely a camp counselor in the making.
