I hate to shop. I don’t consign. If I need something, I hit Walmart or Old Navy and call it a day. My friends know not to call me if they want to yard sale hop early on a Saturday morning. I’m not that girl.
Having said that, if I’m devoting an entire post to a garage sale in town, you know it’s got to be a pretty big deal!
Before I jump into the details of the sale, let me say that I plan to write a full blog post on this church. I originally thought I’d include it here, but 1) this post needs to be just about the sale and 2) there is so much I want to share about the church, I want to write an entire story for you another day.
What I want you to know today is, Aldersgate Methodist Church is hosting their Really Huge Garage Sale this Friday and Saturday from 8am-2pm. If you’re in the Greenville area, you can’t afford to miss this sale.
The United Methodist Women of Aldersgate host two garage sales each year to raise money for foreign and local missions. In the past sixteen years, the UMW have raised over $250,000 for Miracle Hill, Generations Home for Boys, Triune Mercy Center, Habitat for Humanity and many others. It takes over one hundred devoted workers more than fifteen hundred hours to fill five thousand plus square feet of space.
I had the privilege of taking a “behind-the-scenes” tour of the event on Wednesday. I left with a bag full of goodies, but that’s beside the point.
This was my favorite spot. They. Have. All. The. Books. You will want to get here early.
This year, they’ve pulled out all the stops to bring you the Huge Christmas Shoppe!
Bring your Christmas list and plan to get all your shopping done under one BIG roof!
On a more personal note, if you come, you’ll be surrounded by some of Greenville’s finest and kindest souls. Thank you, Aldersgate, for sharing your mission with our community!
